A individual charged with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a phone message which posed: "what if I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has consistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February 2025.

On Monday, the tribunal was told phone records and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt persistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout that period.

Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a vacation in Portugal - is one of the most covered investigations and is still open.

'I Don't Want Money'

Another phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I know I'm heavy and unattractive like Madeleine was, but I know what I know."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Suppose there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a life here in Poland, I just want to know," the message continued.

The tribunal was told that through emails, text messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, sent early photographs to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and asserted to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who compiled the information, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, based on the call data.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "the wrong phone."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my claim."

The court heard Mrs Spragg developed a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in last December.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had reached out through communication app to Mrs McCann to state the press had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the time preceding the trip to that location, Leicestershire, in that winter.

The court learned communications between the two individuals, in that autumn, considering endeavoring to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from utensils at a dining venue.
