Rather, the latest movie from the Jujutsu Kaisen action franchise serves as a collection of the show's sophomore season merged with the opening installments of its third season, which kicks off the Culling Games storyline from the manga series. This establishes Execution, which has been given a fresh preview, the first way to watch the beginning of the upcoming season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. It was reported that the animation team were suffering from tight schedules to the extent, and the broadcast edition that was shown at the time was not fully polished and allegedly not what the animators originally planned.

The second installment of JuJutsu Kaisen elevated the franchise to become the top anime of the year, and when the two-part finale were premiered one after another, it was the focus of attention for weeks in the animation fandom. Audiences knew about the issues behind the scenes, which made them admire what they viewed even more.
