Salah Issues Regret to Teammates, Says Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that the Egyptian forward said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad in the wake of the uproar from his public comments.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a European match after voicing frustrations and claiming his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I apologise.’”
The head coach has chosen not to reveal on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and it was business as usual,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I get that there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the initial controversy. Jones believes the outburst were not designed to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a good place,” he finished. “It's behind us and we’re building chemistry, getting results and starting to win games.”
