Triple National Basketball Association Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" knee injury when the Nuggets lost by a score of 147-123 to the Miami Heat.

The star player sustained the injury late in the first half in an accidental coming together with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.

Jones landed on the foot of the big man, and he instantly fell to the floor grabbing his knee.

The 30-year-old, who is leading the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, posted 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before sustaining the injury.

Jokic will undergo an scan on Tuesday to determine the seriousness of the problem.

"Instantly, he understood something was wrong," stated Denver coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Any player that gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, particularly a player as talented as he is. We'll find out more on Tuesday."

"The team will adjust together. Clearly, currently, I'm more concerned about Jokic personally and the disappointment of experiencing something of that nature."
