The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to Celtic as "an enormous football club" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The 39-year-old assumed control of Ipswich in recent years and led them to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions, but they managed only four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the Championship and they presently occupy twelfth place in the Championship.

"There have been such conversations," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have considered seriously, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I have a special job here at a special club. And we're at a really important stage of the season. Anything external hasn't touched my awareness."

Context and Agreement Aspects

It has been suggested that McKenna would be willing to talk to Celtic given his boyhood allegiances.

"During youth, we all have our affinities," he said when asked about these. "I don't think everyone has to go around and announce what they were, but naturally it's a really big football club."

McKenna agreed to a fresh multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he replied. "I'm unaware what my specific terms are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I approach this job like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I know that's not always going to be the situation, but I'll always do my best as while I am here."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker played for the Hoops on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the ex- Welsh forward is inclined to complete the current World Cup campaign, a stance that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from immediately taking the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently third in their World Cup group behind group toppers Belgium and runners-up North Macedonia.

Victories over Liechtenstein and their rivals in next month would book their place in the final qualifying round, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, thanks to a productive Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up their group runners-up.

Considering his present stance, Bellamy, whose agreement concludes after the European Championship, would be unavailable until after the play-offs at the minimum.
